About Me
I came to Alaska with my family in 1988 to teach preschool for the Bristol Bay Borough School District. I wrote my children's books for those students. I think it's fantastic that the artist used actual scenes, rivers, and mountain ranges from our area in his illustrations. Sometimes I would take sample pictures in to show my classes and get their feedback. It was great fun to hear them exclaim "I know that place! We camped there!" The books are a great way to share a little piece of our great community with others.
Living in the remote Alaskan village of Naknek is a unique experience. Where else can you watch bear cubs wrestle on your front lawn or walk down to the river and set a net that will be filled with hundreds of sockeye salmon? And if we don't like the weather, we only need to wait a short while and it will change! And given enough time a person can become accustomed to eating mosquitoes with every breath.
I'm currently working on another book and will post progress updates on my Facebook page. So stop by and take a look once in a while. Feel free to contact me through my guestbook or FB if you have any questions or comments.
