Sara lives on the Bristol Bay coast of western Alaska in the village of Naknek. She arrived there in 1988 with her husband Big John, their four children, and their little dog Spike.

     As a child, Sara developed a love of learning and reading which has become a lifelong pursuit. As a kindergarten teacher she attempts to pass this love on to her students.

     Alaska's great outdoors is a source of inspiration for Sara's writing. She loves to spend time hiking, kayaking, and camping. Much of this is done in nearby Katmai National Park.
