I enjoy speaking to groups of about 30 students Kindergarten through 3rd grade in a library or classroom setting. I share materials related to my writing such as rejection letters, book dummies, artwork, etc. I discuss how an idea turns into a book and working together with an artist. Presentations can be customized to fit the needs of the class or school. My books fit well with topics dealing with Alaska, wildlife, how different animals raise their young, rivers, mountains, tundra, plants, etc. I teach the children the song at the end of the book and American Sign Language for the animals we discuss. I usually talk for about 1/2 hour, depending on the age group, and allow 15 additional minutes for questions. This can vary from grade to grade. If you are interested in having me come to your school, please e-mail me. I'd like some basic information about your school and an approximate date (or dates). |
Book signings can be scheduled before, between, or after presentations. All books sold at a school visit are discounted 25%. This discount can either be passed on to the purchasers or used as a fund raiser by the school.
